Juniors at Essendon Hockey: A Fun and Inclusive Start to Hockey
Essendon Hockey is passionate about providing a positive and inclusive environment for junior players of all ages participating in Hockey Victoria competitions.
Whether your child is completely new to hockey or already playing at a high level, they are welcome here! We cater to all skill levels and are excited to introduce new players to this fantastic sport.

If you’re considering hockey for your child and are interested in joining the Essendon Hockey family, or if your child would simply like to try hockey for the first time, please reach out to us at juniors@essendonhockey.com.au. Our junior training is held at our home grounds at 1 Hockey Lane, Ascot Vale.
We have 2 full sized hockey pitches that are dedicated to junior training on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If your child is unable to attend the main training session for their age group, email juniors@essendonhockey.com.au to see if we have any other options available to help develop their skills.
The junior winter season traditionally starts after Easter each year and concludes in September. Teams are entered towards the closing of Term 1 in the school calendar year.

Teams are entered across various age groups in a Hockey Victoria indoor season commencing in Term 4.
We also support teams to play at the Indoor Club Championships.

The Essendon Hockey Junior section will field mixed and girls-only teams across age groups under 10 through to Under 16.
The Essendon Hockey Junior section is focused on providing an inclusive environment where opportunities are provided for all players to develop their individual skills and gameplay.
Our teams cater for all abilities- from our elite to developing juniors, to those new to the game. We field various teams across the age groups- Under 10s right through to U18s.
We host sessions and programs aimed at introducing hockey to new players. Our Hook in2 Hockey and Stick 2 Hockey programs are specifically aimed at our young Under 10 and Under 12 players. Essendon Hockey Centre has facilities that include 2 hybrid hockey pitches, located less than 10 minutes from the Melbourne Central Business District. The Essendon Hockey community not only focuses on hockey but also a family friendly environment that is inclusive of all.
